Week of Giving - Day 2 - Big Tipper!

In case you missed yesterday's post, I am doing a week full of giving this week!  Each day, I'm focusing on a way to give back.  It is so important to pass this on to our children.  And to keep this spirit in mind through the holiday.  It's so easy to get wrapped up in finding the perfect present.  Hosting the perfect party.  Making the perfect cookies.  And having a perfectly decorated house.  How often do we forget to give a little bit to others?

We eat out more than I'd like to admit during the holidays.  Things are busy.  I'm stopping after work to pick up gifts here and there.  I don't feel like doing dishes, etc.  So, we eat out.

Every year, we pick a deserving waitress or waiter and leave a big tip.  We are typically 18-20% tippers anyways (unless our service is terrible), but for our "big tip,"  we like to give extra.  Sometimes it's $20, sometimes it's $40.  It just depends on what we have.

It's always a game for us.  In December, every server we have is being "evaluated" for us to decide if this is the right person.  I always pray that God leads us to who needs it the most.  Usually it's the person that talks about their little kids at home or you can tell just needs a little extra.

Even before Matt and I were married, when we were poor college students, we did this every year.  It's is so rewarding!

So, here's your challenge!  Go out and do this!  If you do, leave me a comment telling me!  I just may have my own little way to give back to you :)

  1. Awesome, Sarah...I'm totally doing this...now I just have to get the hubs to agree to go out...;)

  2. This sounds like an AWESOME excuse for a date. :) Love the idea, Sarah!

  3. This is such an AWESOME idea, Sarah!!! I would never have thought to do that!!! We hardly ever eat out, but I think I'm going to do this for whichever girl cuts my hair next week at SuperCuts! I can't wait to see what other great ideas you have the rest of the week!

  4. My boyfriend and I did this a little while back for our waitress at breakfast. We giggled the whole way out of the parking lot! It is such a privilege to be able to bless people. I'm glad God lets us join in with his amazing gift of grace to hurting people by extending generosity to someone who will really appreciate it and be surprised by an act of love!

  5. Sarah, what a blessing your extra tip is to that waiter or waitress! What a special gift for them this Christmas! I'm going to do it, too!

I adore comments! Leave me some love, suggestions, comments here :)
